Google is constantly changing things up with Google My Business (GMB), making it a bit of a challenge to keep GMB listings optimized. That’s why we make sure we’re ahead of the curve on impending changes so we can prepare ourselves and our dealer partners. And not to toot our own horns, but our commitment to staying ahead of the game with Google is a big reason why we’re able to drive impactful business growth with our partners’ GMB listings.

For one particular Mercedes-Benz dealership, we were able to help the achieve some impressive gains on their GMB listing. The dealer is a small-town dealership with a smaller in-market audience than others in large metro areas.

On its face, this report may not look that notable. But when you consider the dealership is located in a small town 45 minutes outside of a major metro area, things look a bit rosier. How could a small town dealer drive so many more map views? It’s because they’ve optimized their GMB listing so they rank higher than the competition.

We’ve included the geo and relative market size multipliers to help put things in perspective and provide context based on the other Mercedes-Benz dealers in this group.

The Market Multiplier

The market multiplier is a reflection of how many times larger the population is for the other Mercedes-Benz dealers versus the town our SEAT dealer is located in. All of the other stores listed have at least 2x the population than our partners. Despite that, our partner has more than 10k map views than any other store, and the second highest website visits.

You have to consider the relative populations of these markets. The greater the market size and population density, the more opportunities there are for a dealer’s GMB listing to appear in search results. For example, the fourth city listed in the screenshot is eight times larger, but the small-town store with SEAT got more site visits and map views. They also had a comparable number of calls, impressions, and directions requests.
